Jamie Goulding started Martial Arts back in the early 80s at nearly 6 years old. Jamie’s parents took Jamie to karate classes to try and channel his energy; he took to it like a duck to water. After only a couple of month training Jamie entered his 1st championships loosing by 1 point in the final to a brown belt, that was the beginning of the now international known and world class fighter Jamie Goulding.
Jamie’s instructor and Martial arts legend Joe Tierney was not happy with the fight restrictions in the karate tournaments, so in the late 80s moved to fighting in all styles championships where you could pit your skills against Kung fu, Kick boxers, Thai boxers, Tea kwon do and many other different styles, there where no limitations on techniques you could use and back in those days no limitations on power. By the early 90s Jamie had been British champion several times and appointed Shorai junior England captain. Jamie was also spotted by talent scouts and made several TV appearances and also landed a screen test for Die Hard and Batman & Robin, unfortunately he could not make it to Hollywood in time for the screen test.
At the age of 14 Jamie’s instructor and parents felt it was time for Jamie to test himself in the men’s divisions after dominating the junior divisions. Within a matter of months Jamie was winning titles in the adults and junior divisions, at this stage Jamie was teaching his own classes and producing good martial artists.
At the age of 17 Jamie was now ranked No.2 in the world by the WKA (world kickboxing association) but felt something was lacking in his arsenal, after a fight with a much bigger opponent who kept grabbing him and wresting him to the floor. This is when Jamie started to study grappling arts as well. Karate and kickboxing was his life and grappling arts was just for fun. Still continuing to fight, by 2009 Jamie had been a champion in 3 different decades, clocking up 16 British titles, 2 European titles, 2 world championship bronzes, 3 world championship silvers, 2 world championship gold and 100s of other area and smaller inter-championship titles, clocking up nearly 2000 fights to date.
